The Upper Midwest Digital Collections Conference (#umdcc25) and the Minnesota Digital Library Annual Meeting (#mndiglib25) will be held jointly on May 6–7, 2025. It will be an in-person event held in Saint Paul, Minnesota at the Union Depot.

This workshop will explore the critical role cultural heritage staff play in balancing access and long-term preservation to digital content. Practical guidance on appraisal/selecting for preservation, assessment, and advocacy will equip attendees with actionable steps to begin or enhance their preservation efforts. Participants will also gain insights into the current landscape of the field by learning about collaborative models for digital preservation and emerging regional initiatives. Discussion time throughout the session will provide opportunities for participants to explore their current environment and plan for the future.
